How to Pay Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Credit Card Bill via BharatBillPay

BharatBillPay, often referred to as the Bharat Bill Payment System, is the national bill payment platform that brings together hundreds of billers, including most credit card issuers, into a single trusted ecosystem. Tamilnad Mercantile Bank credit cards are listed on this platform, which means you can pay your credit card bill on the system from almost any UPI app, mobile banking app, net banking portal, or business correspondent outlet that supports it.

Why BharatBillPay is a strong choice

BharatBillPay is regulated and operated under a unified set of rules. Every payment carries a unique reference, every biller is verified, and every confirmation is delivered through a standard message. For cardholders, this means that there is no need to remember a separate password for the credit card portal, no need to enter the full card number on every visit, and no surprises about whether the payment has been received. The platform also lets you pay your Tamilnad Mercantile Bank credit card bill from any bank, not only from the issuing bank itself.

Where you can pay

You can pay through the BharatBillPay channel inside almost any UPI app, the official mobile banking app of any major bank, the net banking portal of any major bank, the BharatBillPay section of an authorised business correspondent or retail outlet, or directly through the website of an authorised BharatBillPay payment partner. The flow is broadly similar across channels, although the look and feel changes from app to app.

Information you need before paying

Keep your sixteen-digit Tamilnad Mercantile Bank credit card number ready, along with the registered mobile number on the credit card. The latest statement is also useful, as it confirms the total amount due, the minimum amount due, and the due date. If you have never used BharatBillPay before, the chosen app may also ask you to verify your mobile number with a one-time password the first time.

Step by step payment flow

Open the chosen app and go to the bill payment section. Select the credit card category. Search for Tamilnad Mercantile Bank, or its abbreviation, in the biller list. Select the credit card biller and enter your sixteen-digit card number along with any other detail the form requests. Confirm the biller registration. Once the biller is registered, the outstanding amount and the due date appear automatically each cycle. Tap the biller, enter or accept the amount you want to pay, choose your funding source, and authenticate the transaction.

Funding source options

BharatBillPay accepts a wide range of funding sources, including UPI handles linked to any bank, debit cards of any bank, net banking of any bank, and certain wallet balances on partner apps. The exact list depends on the channel you are using. The payment is initiated as soon as the funding source is authorised, and the credit card account is updated within minutes for most cases.

Charges, limits, and confirmation

BharatBillPay payments to a credit card biller are generally free for the cardholder, although a small convenience fee may be charged on a few channels. The per transaction limit and the per day limit are set by the channel and the funding source, and they are usually large enough to cover a routine credit card bill. After every successful payment, the system delivers a confirmation message with a unique transaction reference, the date and time, and the amount paid. Save this reference for any later follow-up.

Handling failures and refunds

If the funding account is debited but the bill is not updated, the BharatBillPay system normally auto reverses the debit within one working day. If the reversal does not happen, raise a complaint inside the channel using the transaction reference. The system also lets you raise a complaint directly on the BharatBillPay platform from any participating channel, and the channel and the biller are required to resolve it within set timelines. While this is being investigated, you can keep your account in good standing by paying your credit card bill on Stashfin.
