How to Pay PNB Credit Card Bill via PNB Genie App

Punjab National Bank's credit card division operates a dedicated mobile application called PNB Genie, which is specifically designed for PNB credit card holders. Unlike the broader PNB One mobile banking app — which serves all PNB retail banking customers — PNB Genie is purpose-built for credit card account management. It provides PNB credit card holders with a focused interface for viewing account details, transaction history, statements, rewards, and — most importantly for monthly financial management — paying the credit card bill.

This guide provides a complete walkthrough of paying a PNB credit card bill through the PNB Genie app, covering setup, navigation, the payment process, and what to expect after the transaction.

What is PNB Genie and who should use it?

PNB Genie is Punjab National Bank's dedicated credit card management app. It is designed for PNB credit card holders — whether or not they also hold a PNB savings account. The app provides credit card-specific functionality including real-time balance and limit display, monthly statement download, transaction history, EMI conversion for eligible purchases, reward point management, customer service request submission, and credit card bill payment.

For PNB credit card holders who primarily bank with PNB, PNB Genie complements the broader PNB One app — credit card management happens in PNB Genie while savings account banking happens in PNB One. For PNB credit card holders whose primary banking is with another institution, PNB Genie is the dedicated management interface for the credit card account without requiring any PNB savings account or PNB One registration.

Setting up PNB Genie for first-time use

Download PNB Genie from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Search for PNB Genie or Punjab National Bank Genie to locate the official app. Launch the app and proceed with registration using your PNB credit card number and the mobile number registered with the credit card. The app sends an OTP to the registered mobile number for identity verification. After OTP verification, set an MPIN for future app access.

Once the MPIN is set, the PNB Genie home screen displays your credit card's current outstanding balance, available credit limit, minimum amount due, and payment due date — all pulled in real time from PNB's credit card management system.

Step one: opening PNB Genie and logging in

Launch the PNB Genie app on your smartphone and authenticate using your MPIN or biometric — fingerprint or face recognition — as configured during setup. The home dashboard displays your credit card account summary with the current outstanding balance, available credit limit, minimum amount due, and due date prominently.

Step two: navigating to the bill payment section

From the PNB Genie home dashboard, look for the Pay Bill, Make Payment, or similar option. This may appear as a prominent button on the home screen or within the credit card account management section — accessible through the bottom navigation or the main menu. Tap on it to open the payment initiation interface.

Step three: selecting the payment amount

The payment interface displays the total amount due, the minimum amount due, and a custom amount field. Select the total amount due for complete financial protection — this is the payment amount that eliminates interest charges, preserves the interest-free grace period on future purchases, and has the most positive impact on the CIBIL utilisation ratio. If a partial payment is required, enter the custom amount — but ensure it is at least equal to the minimum amount due to avoid a late payment fee.

Step four: selecting the payment method

After confirming the payment amount, choose the payment method. PNB Genie typically supports multiple payment options including net banking from PNB savings accounts for PNB-to-PNB same-bank transfers, UPI from any linked bank account — including non-PNB accounts — and debit card payment. UPI is the recommended option for non-PNB savings account holders — it is free of convenience fees for credit card bill payments and works from any linked bank account.

For PNB savings account holders, the same-bank transfer route — selecting the PNB savings account as the payment source within the app — is the fastest option, potentially reflecting on the credit card account within hours due to the same-bank internal processing advantage.

Step five: authenticating and completing the payment

Review the payment summary — credit card number last four digits, payment amount, and payment method — on the confirmation screen. Authenticate the payment using your PNB Genie MPIN, biometric, OTP, or UPI PIN depending on the payment method selected. For UPI payments, authentication occurs through your UPI PIN within the app or through the linked UPI app.

Upon successful processing, PNB Genie displays a payment confirmation screen with a transaction reference number and — for BBPS-routed UPI payments — a BBPS acknowledgement number. Screenshot this confirmation as your proof of payment. An SMS is also sent to the registered mobile number confirming the transaction.

How long does the PNB Genie payment take to reflect?

For same-bank payments from a PNB savings account through PNB Genie, the payment typically reflects within a few hours — often within minutes — as it is an internal PNB transfer. For UPI payments from non-PNB bank accounts, the standard one to two working day timeline applies for the payment to reflect on the card account.

If the payment has not reflected after two working days, contact PNB credit card customer care with the transaction reference number or BBPS acknowledgement number from the PNB Genie payment confirmation.

Auto-pay setup through PNB Genie

PNB Genie may include a standing instruction or auto-pay feature within the credit card management section. If available, this allows you to set up an automatic monthly debit for the total amount due, minimum amount due, or a custom fixed amount from a linked bank account. Setting auto-pay to the total amount due is the recommended configuration — it ensures the full outstanding balance is cleared automatically each month without any manual action.

Verify the first auto-debit execution by checking the linked bank account statement on the expected debit date. If auto-pay is not available directly within PNB Genie, it can be set up through PNB's credit card customer care or through PNB's net banking portal, as PNB manages the NACH mandate infrastructure for its credit card standing instructions.

Other features available in PNB Genie

Beyond bill payment, PNB Genie provides PNB credit card holders with a complete card management toolkit. Monthly statements — in PDF format — are downloadable directly from the app for any past billing cycle, useful for expense tracking and tax documentation. Transaction history with merchant details and amounts is accessible for recent and historical cycles. Reward points balance and redemption options are viewable and in some versions actionable within the app. Service requests — such as card blocking, replacement requests, and address change — can be submitted through the app's service section. EMI conversion for eligible purchases may be available for applicable cardholders.

For PNB credit card holders, PNB Genie is the single most feature-complete interface for managing the credit card relationship — more focused and complete than using PNB One net banking for credit card purposes, and significantly more capable than using a third-party UPI app which provides only the bill payment function without any account management features.

Alternative payment channels if PNB Genie is unavailable

If the PNB Genie app is temporarily unavailable due to maintenance or technical issues, the immediate alternatives are the PNB One net banking portal's bill payment section, UPI through any major payment app — Google Pay, PhonePe, Amazon Pay — with PNB Credit Card listed as a BBPS biller, or NEFT from any bank's net banking using PNB's designated credit card NEFT IFSC code and the credit card number as the account number.

Credit card payment services are subject to applicable terms and conditions. Stashfin is an RBI-registered NBFC. Please read all terms carefully before use.
