How to Pay IDFC First Bank Credit Card Bill via SMS and IVR

Not every credit card bill payment has to happen on a smartphone app. IDFC First Bank cardholders also have access to short message service requests and an interactive voice response phone banking line that can be used to settle the credit card bill. These offline-friendly channels are especially useful when data connectivity is poor, when the app is unavailable, or when you simply prefer the simplicity of voice and text instructions.

When phone banking and short message service are useful

These channels are most useful in three situations. The first is when you are travelling and your data connection is unreliable. The second is when the official mobile app is temporarily down for maintenance. The third is when you prefer a guided, voice-led experience over navigating menus on a screen. In each case, the credit card bill can still be paid without depending on internet banking or a payment app.

Information you need before you start

Keep your sixteen-digit IDFC First Bank credit card number ready, along with the registered mobile number on the credit card account. The latest statement is helpful as it confirms the total amount due, the minimum amount due, and the due date. If you intend to pay through the IVR, the telephone identification number used by IDFC First Bank for authentication should also be in mind.

Using short message service requests

IDFC First Bank publishes a list of short message service keywords on the credit cards section of its official website and in the welcome kit issued with the card. These keywords let you check the outstanding balance, the available credit, the last payment, and the due date of the card from the registered mobile number. Some short message service keywords also let you initiate routine actions, after which the bank may follow up with a confirmation link or a call to complete the payment securely. The exact keywords change from time to time, so always confirm them on the official website before sending the message.

Calling the phone banking line

Dial the official IDFC First Bank phone banking number printed on the back of the credit card or shown on the official IDFC First Bank India website. Choose the language and select the option for credit card services. Enter the sixteen-digit credit card number when prompted, followed by the additional verification details that the system asks for. After authentication, the menu reads out the total amount due and the minimum amount due, and offers the option to pay the bill through the linked IDFC First Bank savings account.

Speaking to a phone banking officer

If the menu does not offer the option you need, or if you have a specific query about the bill, return to the main menu and choose to speak to an officer. After confirming additional security questions, the officer can guide you through the payment, raise a service request on your behalf, or share alternative payment options if your funding account is not with IDFC First Bank.

Confirmation and follow-up

After the payment is complete, the system reads out a transaction reference number and sends a short message to your registered mobile with the date, time, and amount paid. The credit card account is generally updated within a few minutes of a successful payment. The available credit limit also rises by the same amount, which is a quick visual confirmation that the bill has been received.

Charges and limits

Short message service requests are charged at the standard rate set by your telecom service provider. Phone banking calls to the official number are charged at standard call rates. There is no separate fee for paying the credit card bill through these channels. The per transaction and per day limits follow the regular limits set on your IDFC First Bank account, and any specific cap is communicated by the system during the call.

Safety tips

Use only the official phone banking number printed on the card or shown on the official website. Do not respond to unsolicited callers who claim to be from the bank and ask for the credit card number, expiry date, card verification value, or one-time password. Never share these details over a call you did not initiate yourself.

Backup option

If the call drops or the message system is slow, the safest fallback is to switch to another channel before the due date. You can pay your credit card bill on Stashfin in a single tap so that the cycle is not marked late even when the offline channels are not cooperating.

Credit card payment services are subject to applicable terms and conditions. Stashfin is an RBI-registered NBFC. Please read all terms carefully before use.
