How to Pay Axis Bank Credit Card Bill via Google Pay
Paying your Axis Bank credit card bill through Google Pay is one of the most straightforward digital payment experiences available in India. Because Google Pay operates on the UPI infrastructure, the payment is processed in real time from any linked bank account — it does not require you to have a savings account with Axis Bank, and it does not require you to log into any banking portal. As long as you have the Google Pay app installed and a UPI-linked bank account active, you can pay your Axis Bank credit card bill in a few taps.
This guide walks through the complete process from opening the app to receiving confirmation, along with what to check at each stage and what to do if anything goes wrong.
Before you begin: what you need
To pay your Axis Bank credit card bill via Google Pay, you need three things in place. First, the Google Pay app installed on your smartphone — available on both Android and iOS. Second, a bank account linked to Google Pay via UPI, with sufficient balance to cover the credit card payment amount. Third, your Axis Bank credit card number, which you will need to add the card as a biller the first time you use this method. Your credit card number is printed on the front or back of your physical card and is also available in the Axis Mobile app or Axis Bank net banking portal.
Step one: open Google Pay and navigate to bill payments
Open the Google Pay app on your smartphone. On the home screen, you will see various payment options displayed as icons or tiles. Look for the option labelled Bills, or navigate to the section that shows bill payment categories — this is typically accessible from the main screen or from the Explore or Pay Bills section of the app, depending on your app version.
Tap on Bills to enter the bill payment section. You will see a list of bill categories. Select Credit Card from the available categories. Google Pay will display a list of supported credit card issuers.
Step two: find and select Axis Bank as your biller
Within the Credit Card section, browse or search for Axis Bank. Google Pay lists Axis Bank credit cards as a supported biller. Tap on Axis Bank to proceed. If you have previously added an Axis Bank credit card as a biller on Google Pay, it will appear in your saved billers — you can select it directly without re-entering your card details.
If this is your first time, you will be prompted to add a new biller. Enter your Axis Bank credit card number carefully. Double-check the number, especially the last four digits, before proceeding. Google Pay will verify the card number with the biller's system, which takes a few seconds.
Step three: fetch and verify the outstanding amount
Once your card number is verified, Google Pay fetches your current outstanding amount from Axis Bank's system via the BBPS — Bharat BillPay System — infrastructure. The screen will display the amount due on your Axis Bank credit card, along with the payment due date if available from the biller's system.
Verify this amount against your most recent Axis Bank credit card statement or the amount shown in your Axis Mobile app before proceeding. The fetched amount reflects the biller's system data at that moment and may not always include very recent transactions made after your last statement was generated. If you want to pay a specific amount — for example, the full total amount due from your statement — you may have the option to enter a custom amount.
Always ensure the amount you are about to pay is the correct figure before moving to the next step.
Step four: select your payment source and confirm
After verifying the amount, Google Pay will ask you to confirm the payment details. The screen shows the biller name — Axis Bank credit card — the card number last four digits, and the payment amount. Below this, you will see the source bank account from which the UPI debit will be made. If you have multiple bank accounts linked to Google Pay, ensure the correct one is selected and that it has sufficient balance.
Tap the Pay or Proceed button. Google Pay will prompt you to enter your UPI PIN to authenticate and authorise the transaction. Enter your UPI PIN carefully — this is the four or six digit PIN specific to your UPI account, not your bank ATM PIN or card PIN, though for many banks these may be the same.
Once your UPI PIN is entered and submitted, the transaction is processed in real time through the UPI network.
Step five: receive and save the confirmation
If the transaction is successful, Google Pay displays a confirmation screen showing the transaction as complete, along with a transaction reference number and a BBPS acknowledgement number. The confirmation is also sent as a notification to your registered mobile number and, in many cases, as an email to your registered Google account.
Take a screenshot of the confirmation screen or note down the transaction reference number and BBPS acknowledgement number. These are your proof of payment and are essential if you ever need to trace the transaction or raise a dispute.
You can also find the payment in Google Pay's transaction history — navigate to the app's history or profile section to locate the payment record at any time.
How long does the payment take to reflect on the Axis Bank card?
Payments made via Google Pay through UPI typically reflect on your Axis Bank credit card account within one to two working days. In many cases, particularly during business hours on working days, the payment may reflect faster. Payments made on weekends, public holidays, or outside standard banking hours may take slightly longer.
If your payment has not reflected on your Axis Bank credit card after three working days, check your bank account statement to confirm the amount was debited. If it was debited but not credited to the card, raise a dispute through Google Pay's in-app support using the transaction reference number, and simultaneously contact Axis Bank customer care with the BBPS acknowledgement number.
What if the payment fails on Google Pay?
If the payment fails at the UPI authorisation stage — for example due to an incorrect UPI PIN, insufficient balance, or a bank server issue — the amount will not be debited from your account and you can attempt the payment again. If the amount is debited but the transaction shows as failed or pending in Google Pay, do not make a second payment immediately. Wait up to three working days for any auto-reversal to occur under NPCI's rules for failed UPI transactions, then raise a dispute if the reversal does not happen.
Is there a fee for paying Axis Bank credit card bill via Google Pay?
No. Google Pay does not charge a platform fee for credit card bill payments made via UPI. The payment is debited directly from your linked bank account through the UPI network at no additional cost. This makes Google Pay one of the most cost-effective methods available for credit card bill payment, particularly compared to branch cash payment, which attracts a processing fee.
Keeping your Axis Bank biller saved for future payments
Once you have added Axis Bank as a biller on Google Pay and made your first payment, the biller is saved to your account for future use. On your next payment cycle, you simply return to the Bills section of Google Pay, find your saved Axis Bank credit card biller, and the process begins at the amount verification step — no need to re-enter your card number. This makes subsequent payments faster and reduces the risk of data entry errors.
